Maybe if I wished it away, it would go
Wash up on the shore at my feet, lapping right over me
Ferris wheel rides go up, then back down
I watch it revolve like the Earth to the Sun
Still I wish you would ride it with me
Like how it once was
If every year we live again
If every day we wake up again
Will I ever chase it away?
Is it forever sneaking up behind me, all over again?
To live and learn, but then undo all the lessons that you’ve earned
Maybe if I wished it away, it would stay
Sitting beside me on the bench, the shore, the tree
Much like how the flower awaits the bees
Sticky like honey, like how it used to be
If every year we live again
If every day we wake up again
Will I ever chase it away?
Is it forever sneaking up behind me, all over again?
To live and learn, then undo the lessons you learned
